Following photoactivation with an appropriate wavelength, deuteporfin generates highly cytotoxic singlet oxygen species, and induces oxidative stress that results in the damage and death of cancer cells. In addition, deuteporfin could be used as a tracer in near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence lymph node
